New Resolution

Starting from today, 2/10/2010, I resolve to more frequently visit restaurants that are not part of a national chain.  Food is extremely important to me, and I want to go out and find NOMs that are unique.  I’m tired of all the same restaurants that you can find at every single major city in the USA.  When driving from area to area, the most commonly seen restaurants (besides fast food places) are the cookie cutter restaurants such as Applebee’s, Chili’s, TGIFridays, Denny’s, IHOP, etc.  They serve the exact same thing, at every single location.

I am on a mission to find food that is different, I want to try things that are new.  Once I find these “new” NOMs, I will share them here on AsLongAsYoureHappy.com.  :D

If anyone has any restaurant suggestions in the Bay Area, please feel free to send me an email via the “Contact Us” page.  Thank you!

  • Oooooh, I made this same resolution (though you know we always defer to the 24-hour grease factories when we’re out super late)!

Yelp is a great place to find one-of-a-kind restaurants. Also, do you watch Diners, Drive-In’s and Drives? That’s also a really sweet reference point. I bought the “cook-book,” at the Great American Food Festival, and not only does it have replica recipes from the places he’s visited, but it also has summaries, locations, etc. of his favorites.

There’s actually a couple pretty close by… and several that I’d want to go to on my travels!
